![]() I am hoping someone can send me on the right path to finding a better way to get my laptop working better with my receiver because if I do not find a better sound card I will have to ditch this laptop even though in is perfect for me in every other way. I was looking for another solution around the web but it seems there isn't too many options available. ![]() I am still using the X-FI but I also ordered a mini-toslink-to-toslink adapter because this laptop has onboard optical out from the headphone jack but it was a waste of $14 because the onboard sound is horrible. I just left it on the pass though setting in the VIA panel and set my bass/treble on my receiever and I was good to go for everything. I've tried every setting possible but it just seems that I constantly have to mess around with it depending on what I'm listening too. It doesn't sound bad but it doesn't sound like it used to. ![]() ![]() I am currently using the USB X-Fi 5.1 with the optical out to my receiver and I am not satisfied with the sound at all. Now I am on a laptop and I am still using the Onkyo 603x/Infinity Beta 50 config for my audio needs. It had a VIA onboard optical out and it fed my receiver a signal which I believed to be pretty good for my ears compared to previosuly owning several different creative branded cards and/or realtek stuff.
